Oscars Fall Out

With Oscar night over and the goody bags listed on ebay it’s time to pull the show apart or so it would seem if you read other sites, as I do. Instead of people reporting on the awards themselves, like D-D Lewis winning a historic hat-trick or Argo the film they tried to ignore (or was that just the Director they tried to ignore) winning best picture most seem to want to focus on Seth Macfarlane. Even after delivering great ratings it still wasn’t good enough for some and no wonder he has said no thanks to doing it again. It makes you wonder what people expected, the poor guy was hired to do a job and was hired for who and what he was, it’s not like no one knew who he was or what he was likely to do. If you want Billy Crystal you hire Billy Crystal. It should be about the awards, the gags and show tunes etc yeah make it entertaining but it’s been such a good year of movies and a diverse year with studios taking more risks it seems such a shame to focus on the wrong thing, and the fact is he did an ok job you cant blame the bloke for doing what he does best and is popular because of it. I say let the people decide and they did end of story, would I want him doing it every year maybe not but if you don't take a risk nothing changes and at the end of the day it’s an awards show so until world poverty is solved theres more important things in life. Congrats to the winners but the real winners are us the viewers and hopefully the studios will continue to take risks and that this year proved you can still have the big blockbusters like The Avengers but also room for a historic drama or a musical.
